AN DIEGO, Calif. (December 18, 2018) — Since its inception in 1987, the San Diego Festival of the Arts has raised in excess of $2.5 million in support of 33+ adaptive sports programs benefiting more than 150,000 San Diegans with disabilities.
Now in its 33rd year, the 2019 San Diego Festival of the Arts will continue this tradition, showcasing stunning works of painting, sculpture, photography, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber and mixed media from nearly 200 world renowned artists June 8 and 9 at downtown San Diego’s beautiful Waterfront Park. Ticket sales (starting at $14), a silent auction and wine and beer garden all contribute towards this philanthropic effort spearheaded by the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Foundation.
Beyond the incredible selection of art on display during this juried competition available for purchase, guests will once again enjoy world-class live music and entertainment both days, a selection of outdoor games and cuisine from San Diego’s top restaurants.
“Every year, The San Diego Festival of the Arts raises money for programs that focus on improving the lives of San Diego children, adults and wounded warriors through adaptive sports, recreation and cultural programs,” said Don Ludwig, 2019 festival chair. “We bring the very best in artists from multiple visual arts categories, along with a gorgeous setting, outstanding entertainment, food and drink options to create an ideal outing for all San Diegans while also raising funds for valuable community-based activities benefitting San Diegans with disabilities,” Ludwig added.
Boasting interactive fountains, intimate gardens, wide harbor views and excellent access to public transit, Waterfront Park has emerged as a quintessential destination for residents and visitors alike. In 2016, the San Diego Festival of the Arts became the first art event ever held at the park and has proven to be an ideal showcase for a variety of media.
